23 of BUiD students along with Dr Stephen Wilkins, Head of MBA programme, Dr Maria Papadaki, Assistant Professor in Project Management and Mr. Amer Alaya, Head of Student Administration visited the Universities of Glasgow, Edinburgh and Manchester. A full day programme was prepared for the students in each university. The programme included a campus tour in addition to series of lectures and workshops.
In Manchester University, the focus was on project management where the students were briefed on the project of redesigning and rebuilding Birmingham New Street Station. This station is one of the UK’s busiest railway stations, which is also attached to a shopping mall. The railway station stayed operational throughout the project without interrupting the flow of traffic, something that the students found very impressive.
While in the Universities of Glasgow and Edinburgh, BUiD’s students were exposed to a more diverse programmes targeting students with business, project management and engineering backgrounds. These lectures were delivered by top researchers at both universities. The topics ranged from resource allocation to cyber security.
Students were treated for a cultural evening with traditional Scottish cuisine at a local restaurant courtesy of the University of Glasgow .They were also able to undertake cultural and tourism activities in London and the other cities visited. The Trip gave the students a good overview of research and internationalisation activities at UK Russell Group universities.
