A group of 12 BUiD students along with Dr. Alaa Ameer, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Engineering and IT, visited the United Kingdom (UK ) for an educational trip. The purpose of the visit, which lasted from 20 October to 28 October, was to provide the students with the opportunity to gain practical awareness through direct interaction with industrial manufacturing plants in the UK. The students visited Rolls Royce site in Derby, Craft-Heinz food factory in Wigan, and the University of Manchester (UoM).

At the University of Manchester, the students  attended several presentations and discussions on various topics related to engineering through mega Highways projects in England with deep detailed information about the risks and challenges of these projects  and the proposed solutions. They also got the chance to meet with the UoM Vice President for Teaching and Learning, along with other professors. They also attend a presentation about projects in Ministry of Defense and toured through various teaching halls and historical buildings at UoM.

A visit to Rolls Royce site in Derby was arranged on the second day. The students were able to learn  about the history of Rolls Royce in the Heritage Center and the Research and Development workshop. They were briefed about the evolvement stages of the various engines and their different uses in automotive, ships and airplanes. A tour was arranged to different engineering labs and departments, such as the final engine assembly of experimental engines. Stages of the engines assembly were demonstrated and explained by the Rolls Royce engineers.
