Training Overview

The training will explain the deep inter-relationships between Big Data and Digital Technology on one side, and Business Strategy and Organisation Strategy on the other. It will use these relationships to derive recommendations as to how to optimize business impact of digital, and how to embed digital technology in the correct organisational and process structures. To fully appreciate the capabilities and limitations of contemporary digital technology, attendees will be introduced to contemporary Big Data Technologies and Artificial Intelligence developments, and their role in business and society.

Course Objective

At the end of the training, the candidates will be able to understand the driving forces behind digitalisation and the systematic way in which these forces shape our digital future.  They will learn how data is used to inform and to derive knowledge which can benefit their businesses. They will appreciate the threats to privacy and the risks associated with the digitalisation of all aspects of our lives, and learn how to manage their affairs in ways which protect their personal privacy and business confidentiality.

Trainer Profile

Dr. MehandjievDr Mehandjiev is a Professor of Enterprise Information Systems at the Alliance Manchester Business School.  He teaches and researches digital technology, big data and their transforming role for the manufacturing and process industries. Mehandjiev has published more than 150 peer-reviewed research outputs and has edited three special issues of international journals. He has participated in 25 collaborative projects worth €57m (€ 5.3m to the University of Manchester), with a number of blue-chip companies and SMEs, including Airbus, SAP, Comau, MAN, BT, Atos, Philips, DHL, Hanomag, and Magna InTier. Mehandjiev has held visiting appointments with SAP Research Labs (Germany), Tongji University (China), Atos Origin SAE (Spain), BT Research (UK), UNSW (Australia).  He has graduated 15 PhD students and has served as an international reviewer for the European Commission, Belgium, Poland, Russia and Kazakhstan.  His teaching engagements include Manchester Executive Leadership Programme, AMBS Global MBA programme including workshops in Dubai, Tongji University (Shanghai) International MBA programme, personalised training workshops to Chinese government-sponsored training visits to UK, undergraduate and MSc module delivery.
