Dr Christopher Hill, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Education, gave a presentation at the” 7th QS MAPLE Conference: The Future of Higher Education in the Middle East and Africa”, which was held on 1–3 May 2017 at Dubai World Trade Center. The Conference was organized by Higher Colleges of Technology and Amity University. In his presentation, 'Cities within cities: An emerging approach to internationalisation', Dr. Hill examined the role of universities within the construct of academic cities, in uniting global talent and developing creativity as a vehicle for change. The growth of the city and the centralization of knowledge and expertise are key issues as the push to educate and build capacity drives a fundamental change in societal makeup.

The QS MAPLE Conference’s mission is to provide a forum that promotes the development of higher education in the Middle East and Africa in a global context that stimulates international partnership. Also to support the processes of institutional evaluation and upgrading that will lead to greater worldwide recognition of Middle Eastern and African universities.
