On 15 March 2017 , The British University in Dubai (BUiD) organised the 3rd International Sustainable Buildings Symposium-ISBS 2017 in collaboration with Gazi University from Turkey. The Symposium attracted experts from Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United States of America and United Kingdom to discuss sustainable buildings issues and to share their knowledge and expertise in the field.
The Symposium included several specialized sessions with participation from local and international academic institutions. In these sessions, 135 papers were submitted discussing energy and environment, sustainable buildings and smart cities, environmental policies and practices, sustainable planning, and climate change and its impact on the built environment.
BUiD’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Abdulla Al Shamsi, said that the Symposium presented valuable information about the sector. He added, “The region is increasingly moving towards relying on sustainable energy solutions and green buildings practices as priority elements in all development projects, and therefore it is important to build a new generation of talent who will enhance the performance of the green buildings sector and this is the main aim which the Symposium hopes to achieve”.
