  1. Head of the Civil Engineering Research Unit in the Faculty of Advanced Technology at South Wales.
  2. Founder and Head of the Department of Materials Engineering at Al-Quds Sept. 2000-August 2006.
  3. Member of the Faculty of Engineering Board Al Quds University, September 2001-Aug. 2006.
  4. Member of the Al Quds University Research Committee, 2006-2008.
  5. Head of the Engineering Design Office at Al-Quds University, from May 2003 to Aug. 2006. Led a team of engineers and architects on multi-million dollar construction projects for the University, with Responsibility for managing the team, proposal writing, structural design, arranging design competitions, bidding and tendering and procurement. Major projects included:  i) The landscaping of the main campus, funded by the German Development Bank. ii) The Palestinian Prisoners Museum, the first dedicated museum building in Palestine, funded by the Kuwaiti Development Ban. iii) The building of the Lecture complex, building housing nearly 40 lecture halls and theatres with capacities of 30-400 students, building financed by a loan from the Islamic Development Bank and completed on a shoestring budget of $1.5m. for the 3200 square meter complex in record time of 10 months. iv) Other projects included the supervision of the final phase of the Medical Sciences Building housing 5 medical and health faculties of the university, and working with specialist designers in Jordan on the concept for the university teaching hospital.
  6. Acting vice President of Al Quds University for several periods of 1-2 weeks, whilst heading the engineering office, whenever the post holder was travelling or acting as University President.
  7. Director of the Sustainable Materials and Processes research group within the Centre for Sustainable Technology (CST) for three years at Ulster with 7 research staff in the group.
  8. Winner of the Henry Adam Award of the Institution of Structural Engineers, London; for paper on Resin Injection, 1991.
  9. Presented annual lecture of joint meeting of the Concrete Society/Institution of Structural Engineers, Belfast 1996.
