Dr Alaa Ameer


Associate Professor, System Dynamics & Control
He is a Mechanical Engineer with an extensive teaching and research experience in modelling, simulation, and condition monitoring, control and management systems. He was awarded the Degrees of Bachelors of Science (BSc) in Mechanical Engineering in 1979 and Master of Science (MSc) in Applied Mechanics (Tribology) in 1983 from the University of Technology in Baghdad.

he has worked in the automotive industries in Germany-Ulm and Scania  France and oil refinery industry in the

Middle East. His academic career since 1983 began as an Assistant lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at the TechnicalCollege in Baghdad and in 1986 he was appointed as a lecturer in Mechanical Engineering in the University of Technology inBaghdad. Since 1990, He worked in UK universities building a wide range of technical and research skills and liaising with numerous industries, professional and government bodies.

University of Bradford, and prior to joining BUiD, he worked at the School ofEngineering, Design and Technology - University of Bradford delivering courses in Engineering Systems in support of under and post graduate courses. In 2001 he gained a PhD in Engineering Systems Modelling, Simulation and Control from the

His research encompasses engineering systems modelling, dynamics analysis and regulation related to industrial systems and processes. He has published in many journals and has presented papers at numerous international conferences.
