BUiD Doctoral Research Conference 2015 – Facts and Figures

 

 

  • The 1st BUiD Doctoral Research conference was held on the 16th of May 2015, it was a one day event taking place at 9:00 am to 18:00 pm.
  • The conference included a presentation on “The Arts and Science of Doing a PhD" by key note speaker Prof. Ghassan Aouad, president of Applied Science University in Bahrain.
  • The Conference was run over 4 1/2 sessions throughout the day with breaks in between.
  • There were 47 student submissions in total made to the conference.
  • 2 student submissions were in the form of poster presentations.
  • 14 conference papers were submitted to the conference.
  • 17 full draft research proposals were submitted to the conference.
  • 14 extended abstracts were submitted to the conference.
  • There were a total of 31 submissions from PhD PM students, 13 submissions from EdD students and 3 submissions from PhD ASBE students.
  • Student paper submissions were in the areas of sustainability, innovation, organizing complex projects, knowledge management/healthcare and education.
  • The majority of student paper submissions were in the area of innovation.
  • Three concurrent sessions were held in the morning, afternoon and late afternoon.
  • Sessions were chaired by associates from the University of Manchester and attended by many BUiD academics and students.
  • 6 best paper awards were awarded to 3 PhD PM students and 3 EdD students.
  • Best paper award winners were based on reviews of their presentations at the conference and their paper submissions.
  • The reviewing process included students and academics from BUiD and the University of Manchester.
  • Participating students had other student discussants available to discuss the contents of their presentation and research.
  • Academics from BUiD associate universities were involved, including the University of Manchester and the University of Edinburgh.
  • The conference was attended by both Doctoral and MsC students.
