Prior to joining BUiD, he had held academic positions at the University of Johannesburg (Professor of Business Development & Project Management),and the University of the Witwatersrand (Associate Professor of Project Management). He has also held previous academic appointments at the University of Northumbria at Newcastle (2006-2009) and the University of Southampton (2009-2012). In 2012 he was awarded the Excellence in Research Medal by Project Management South Africa (PMSA).
