Core Outcomes:
By the end of the programme, students will have demonstrated the ability to carry out cutting edge research in a particular CS knowledge area through the pursuit of a major research project contributing to the CS body of knowledge. In order to carry out this overall aim the following learning outcomes (based on QAA FHEQ Level 8 qualifications and UAE QF Level 10 qualifications) will have to be achieved upon completion of the PhD programme.
BUiD doctoral degrees in the subject of CS are awarded to students who have demonstrated:
The achievement of these core learning outcomes will ensure that holders of the PhD will typically be able to:
• make informed judgements on complex issues in specialist fields, often in the absence of complete data, and be able to communicate their ideas and conclusions clearly and effectively to specialist and non-specialist audiences;
• continue to undertake pure and/or applied research and development at an advanced level, contributing substantially to the development of new techniques, ideas or approaches.
The core learning outcomes will also translate into PhD holders having the qualities and transferable skills necessary for employment requiring the exercise of personal responsibility and largely autonomous initiative in complex and unpredictable situations, in professional or equivalent environments.
